The SerialComm REP-232-3P is a pair of high quality economical bi-directional port powered 2.5KV opto-isolated RS232 port extenders in a 9 pin format. The converter pair can extend the distance of two standard full duplex RS-232C ports up to 4000 ft (1.2km). The units are powered from the RS232 data lines. It also supports data direction auto-turnaround. Therefore, no external power or flow control is required. The data direction auto-turnaround automatically enables the 4-wire driver when data is present on the RS232 side making the device plug-and-play, requiring no software drivers. Each REP-232-3P converter has a DB9 female connector on the RS232 side and either a DB9 male connector or 5-way terminal block on the wire side. Separate terminal blocks are included in package

TROUBLESHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Perform a loop back test on a pair of REP-232-3P converters. Attach the two REP-232-3Ps to two serial ports on a PC per figure 1 and using two instances of a HyperTerminal program send a character from one and see if it echoes to the other. This will test both transmit and receive functions.
